Natural Stress Remedies

Many people suffer from excessive stress. When there is too much stress, the body tends to break down. Stressed out people become exhausted, irritated and even get sick.

Usually, people buy manufactured drugs to help them ease the stress. But this may only be effective in the short term. Furthermore, drugs have side effects which may be harmful and impair certain systems of the body.

A better and more efficient way is to use natural stress remedies. These remedies are designed to be effective in the long run.

First on the list of natural stress remedies is taking time off. In a day, people are bombarded with stressful situations, which might build up and become critical. After every 50 minutes of work or study, take a 10 minute break. This can make the person more productive and more efficient. During these breaks, it is also a good idea to do deep breathing exercises.

Another natural stress remedy connected to taking time off is to reward oneself after a particularly stressful event or activity. This could be done simply such as watching a good movie or eating a favorite meal. Or, it could be extravagant such as treating oneself in a five star hotel. Whatever the case, rewarding oneself can ease up the stress.

A good natural stress remedy is to go out and enjoy the beauty of nature. There is nothing more relaxing than the sounds of rushing stream water, the rustling of leaves, the fresh scent of mountain air, the coolness of the ocean breeze and the chirping of birds. Nature itself has provided people with stress-relieving scenes and sounds. All one has to do is to lie down and appreciate these gifts.

Reflexology is also a good natural stress remedy, especially if it is physical stress. A reflexology session should include touching the points of the feet that focus on the adrenal, pituitary, parathyroid glands, thyroid glands, diaphragm and spine.

Exercise, of course, is one of the most effective natural stress remedies. A regular, daily 30 minute exercise session helps in relaxing the body, decreases anxiety and increases the bodys resistance against stress. Certain stress relieving exercises include walking, jogging, biking, swimming, aerobics or yoga.

Partaking of natural food is also a good stress remedy. Eating wholesome fruits such as oranges and apples can greatly reduce stress. This is not limited to fruits. Herbs make wonderful stress-relieving teas. Vegetables make a good and healthy meal.
These remedies are safer, gentler and more satisfying than manufactured drugs or other artificial means of stress relief.
