Less Exercise More Rest

The answer lies in how muscle is built, not through lifting weights but my resting. You see when you lift heavy weights you place stress on your muscles which forces small tears in them. Skinny people tend to need more rest to repair their muscles and one issue many have is they over exercise which simply makes them more tired and gives no real benefit as they do not rest enough to get the benefit of their workouts.

Heavy Weights Not More Reps
Following on from the previous tip you should not concentrate on small weights with lots of reps, instead light heavier weights less often. Push yourself and challenge yourself and you will stress your muscles more so your rest will help build them. Also try not to use machines, use free weights instead as they tend to impact on more muscle groups rather than isolation exercises on machines.

Eat More
If you really want to go from skinny to muscle bound then you must also pay attention to what you eat. You must eat more! Even if you do not feel hungry force yourself to eat more as your body metabolizes food quicker than other people so the important parts often do not impact on your muscles before they are burned away by the same system that keeps fat off so easily. If this is hard try to eat more often as a way to ease into more food in general.
