Six Tips For a Flatter and Firmer Stomach

Getting a flatter stomach and showing off a six pack is an obsession for millions of people worldwide. Getting your midsection in a condition that shows off your muscles is a commitment that will take some time. The length of time will be determined by how much effort you want to put in, and by the amount of body fat you're carrying at the moment.

A good start to any exercise regime is a detox program. The human body can store fat to hold toxins that have been accumulated over the years from the environment you live in, and by what type of diet you've been eating. By detoxing, your body will burn fat faster as there will be no toxins for the fat to hold so your body won't need to hold onto it so much.

Regular cardio workouts will increase your metabolism, and get your body in a fat burning state. Cardio gets everything working faster, and gives you more energy so you'll want to workout more often. You only need to do cardio around 4 times per week.

Resistance training with weights will increase your metabolism as well. Muscle naturally burns more calories than fat does so the more you have the faster your body will burn fat. You don't need to turn into a body builder, but by just adding a few pounds of muscle to your body will cause it to naturally burn a few hundred more calories a day.

Eating smaller meals at regular intervals is another way to increase your metabolism. Once your body knows it will get more food within a few hours it will learn to burn off the calories from the previous meal faster. When you eat a couple of meals a day ( which a lot of people do when they're dieting ) your body will learn to hold onto the calories as it will know that you won't be eating another meal for a long time. This is why some dieters never lose any weight, and in some cases actually put on weight.

Eat breakfast as soon as you can in the morning. Eating breakfast kicks your metabolism into gear so your body becomes a fat burning furnace as soon as you wake up. Lots of dieters skip breakfast thinking that one less meal a day will help them lose weight, but this isn't the case. Skipping breakfast causes your metabolism to slow down so your body fat will increase.

Stomach exercises will tone the muscles in your midsection. What they won't do is burn any fat. Without doing all of the above, ten thousand stomach crunches a day will not make your stomach look any flatter, or any more toned. You can't spot reduce fat, you need to burn the fat on your whole body at the same rate.

If you stick to a healthy diet and exercise regime you'll start noticing the difference to your stomach in a few weeks.
