Cure Depression the Natural Way!

Depression takes many different forms, and without realizing it or accepting it, a huge number of people throughout the world suffer from some sort of depression during their lives, and studies estimate that there are at least 14 million people in American alone suffering from depression.

Fewer than 4.7 million of them, about 1/3, will actually seek medical help, and so begs the question;

Why would people with a medical condition not seek help?

Mental illness is a scary concept, and that's where depression has been filed, nobody wants that label applied to them, indeed, not that long ago, our history shows that people who suffered from a mental illness, were ridiculed by society.

In a great many cases, those with slight signs of depression were locked away in state institutions for the mentally ill, and thank goodness times have now changed, but what has not changed are the old stereotypes, and unfortunately this motivates many people to hide their condition from others, or even from themselves.

Many elements make up depression, but diagnosis isn't simple.

You have to take into consideration the chemical imbalances in the brain, genetics, biology and even the environment surrounding the individual concerned.

Drug abusers and alcoholics can develop depression, but so can people just dealing with every day life situations and stress; so in what way can those who suffer from depression be treated?

Fortunately the treatments and cures are as numerous as there are depression causes, but it really comes down to a case by case consideration, as to which options are best for someone who is suffering from depression.

Many claim they have a cure for depression, but a cure is only realistic when safe and effective treatments are to be used; here are some of the factors that need to be considered when these options are examined.

1. Has the method being considered been clinically proven to be effective in the treatment of depression?

2. Does it have an appropriate dose to be effective if a drug or herb is used?

3. Has it been accepted in accordance with high quality control standards?

4. Has the method been tested under an appropriate level of scientific method?

In the treatment of the many forms of depression, doctors have typically prescribed a combination of drugs and psychotherapy; i.e. Prescription anti depressants, such as SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) are very often prescribed.

Prozac was first used in 1988 and today it is one of the most popular, plus drugs like Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, and Luvox amongst many others are also used.

Case history shows all of these to be effective, but these drugs do carry a number of side effects, which is why natural health treatments are gaining popularity, with St Johns Wort extract being one herbal cure which is gaining popularity very quickly, but it must have between three and five percent Hyperforin to work effectively.

Seeking a cure is very important, but so is convincing people to get help, so if you think you have depression, or if someone you know shows the signs, visit a doctor and get the help that is readily available for you, and try out the natural remedies way, it will be so much better for you.

Fight of that Depression the natural way, and have a look around this web site as it comes highly recommended to find what natural alternative therapy will help you.
